10 Day Challenge: Romero's Kitchen

10 day challenge is different from other diets in a number of ways. First, the diet requires you to avoid eating at least one "food" per day. That means that you have to stay away from pretty much everything. Not only that, but there are certain foods you can still eat in limited amounts, just with some substitutes. This will not let you get bored and lose motivation, while helping you maintain the momentum of your new diet.

10 day challenge is no exempt from basic nutritional rules of healthy quick weight loss. A typical rapid weight loss dynamic is around 1-2 lbs per week, which means 500-1000 calories restrictions per day (depending on which phase you are going in - rapid or maintenance). Rapid weight reduction is widely believed to be unhealthy, so radical calorie restriction isn't an option for steady long-term weight reduction. Instead, you need to find creative ways to make up for that little bit of lost nutrition.

So, how can you go about satisfying those nutritional requirements with another format? The answer is simple: Instagram. If you're unfamiliar with Instagram, it's a photo-sharing site where people can add videos, photos, and other media items. For example, here is a recent post by J.Lo on her page:

She's sharing a video from last night's concert (although the link hasn't been posted yet). In the video she's wearing sweatpants, tan shirt, black jacket and hat. Her body is showing, and so is her enthusiasm. She's clearly enthusiastic about being able to lose weight (even though she's not saying she's going to). What's more important than the picture, though, is what she's doing with that extra energy throughout the day to achieve that goal.

If you want to apply the power of Instagram to your weight-loss efforts, consider starting a campaign similar to J.lo's: Every Day Low Carb. J.lo did something very interesting in the video above: she encouraged followers to upload videos of themselves eating foods she suggested in the videos (like pizza and brownies). One can easily implement this same strategy into your own Instagram account, and if it works well with your followers, they might even start sending you videos of their own!

It will take some effort to get used to this new format, but the results will be worth it. First of all, since Instagram is a visual means of communication, you'll want to make sure your pictures are engaging and presentable. Choose high quality images to illustrate your point. A lot of people complain about how their pictures on Instagram don't look great or there's no color or contrast, but this shouldn't be an excuse to post a blurry image! If you're using a program like Storyboard Artist, you can easily make your images turn into great-looking ads for your online business.

For instance, one of the challenges J.lo faced was how to manage her bulging stomach after she lost weight. To overcome this issue, she bought herself a couple of pounds of "cheese and beef" chips from her favorite restaurant and set up a simple grocery list to replace her junk food. She also included a healthy ingredient list for foods she didn't want to eat and a list of "inflammatory foods" that could calm her nerves after she ate.

Now, instead of grabbing those chips whenever she feels hungry, she locates healthy recipes for chicken, fish, vegetables and fruits. Her healthy meals contain lean proteins, lots of veggies, complex carbohydrates and whole-grain breads/pastas. Since she used "cheese and beef" as her "all-time cheat-day," she now has a perfectly-balanced diet, which helps her maintain a healthy weight. She tells her story in her cookbook Romero's Kitchen: Creating Healthy Eats from Everyday Ingredients, which she co-authored with her son Jose.
